What it is: not-for-profit, social enterprise cafe set up within Springboard Hackney, a charity that helps local people – especially young people – gain skills and qualifications and support them into jobs. Menu ranges from egg dipped croissants and maple syrup pancakes at breakfast, to lunch time favourites such as chickpea channa and chorizo and butterbean stew.

Breakfast/brunch is popular with eggs benedict, florentine and royal individually stacked so customers can order as many or as few as they like. Treats include in-house baked cakes, cheesecakes and daily batch of Finnish cinnamon buns. Drip coffee from the jug is a very nice £1.
